Have you heard of CoolSculpting but you’re not sure that it’s right for you? To some people, it sounds like the perfect solution to belly fat. Without doing any sit-ups or planks or anything else, you can reduce the size and shape of your belly. However, some people worry that there will be side effects of CoolSculpting that they will not enjoy.
CoolSculpting basically works by freezing your fat. Your body then eliminates the dead, frozen fat cells. It takes a few weeks to a few months to see your results, but the changes can be pretty dramatic.
One of the benefits of CoolSculpting is that there is no downtime. You can have your appointments, then jump right back into your daily life. Whether you were training for a marathon, attending CrossFit classes, or just wanting to be able to pick up your kids and play with your dog, CoolSculpting will not stop you at all. You also won’t have to take time off work.
When you come to your CoolSculpting appointment, your technician will first take pictures. These are your before photos, and they also give your technician the chance to figure out which parts of your body might most benefit from CoolSculpting.
The CoolSculpting process goes something like this. Your technician will soak a towel in a freezing agent. Then she will place that towel on the particular roll of fact that you are treating. It gets clamped on by the CoolSculpting device. This device works for about an hour. During that time it kills your fat cells, and most clinics will let you watch Netflix or listen to music.
After the treatment, your technician will remove the towel, spend some time rubbing your fat and treat any other areas that might benefit from CoolSculpting. Some people find that the clamping of their stomach skin can be incredibly painful. It may feel like someone is taking your breath away, or it may feel like something is sucking on your stomach in an unpleasant way.
Fortunately, this unpleasantness does not last for long. Your body will go completely numb after about 10 minutes. You may feel cold after that, but you should not feel nearly as much pain.
You may be surprised at how what your body looks like after your CoolSculpting. Your fat roll that is being treated will condense down into what looks and feels like a frozen stick of butter. Rubbing it out may be more painful than you ever expected. However, this can make it less likely that you will swell and help your body drain out the now-dead fat cells.
Do know that you will not want to take any anti-inflammatories after your CoolSculpting procedure. The CoolSculpting causes an inflammatory response, and that is exactly what you want. Avoiding painkillers can be difficult because CoolSculpting can cause nerve pain, which can last up to 6 weeks, though many patients do not experience this at all.
